B.o.B - Lost Generation (music video)

B.o.B - "Generation Lost"

B.o.B is that dude... very simple video. Nice change from all the other crazy ass videos going on.... like the one posted below.

Kanye West ft. Kid Cudi - Welcome to Heartbreak

KANYE WEST "Welcome To Heartbreak" Directed by Nabil from nabil elderkin on Vimeo.

Dope video...but a little hard to watch. Sometime I feel like kanye is just trying too hard to be super creative.

Asher Roth - Silly Boy

Alright, so I wouldn't have written this unless the homie E, wrote that piece the other day about asher roth. Personally, I agree with Evan in that he is a talented MC... In addition, he does sound a lot like EM. Do I have a problem with that? NO.

Don't think he sounds like EM, listen to this track... Silly Boy

White Rappers Need to Sing Coombiyah...ASAP

So my boy over at SMKA asked me to give my two cents on things going on in the industry every once in a while, so I figured I would oblige him seeing as its a black man's holiday (NBA All-Star Weekend), and I have pretty much shut my life down for my number one false idol, the good ole round ball.

I'm not exactly sure who is in charge of rap etiquette or rules, but for those who are in the know, make sure that my following suggestion makes it to the desk of the higher ups. I don't know about you, but I think it should be a mandatory rap law, that from hence forth all white rappers leave each other the hell alone. I mean seriously it's not like there are that many of you doing big things in the game anyways, so why try and cut each other down? It's like you guys are living a real life rap version of that 80's classic film "Highlander" (there can be only one!). Trust me fellas, there can me more than one... many more. Although anyone who remembers " The White Rapper" show on VH1 might suggest that there shouldn't be more than four of you at any given time, or at least no more than six of you in the same room together. But I digress.

If you aren't aware by now, some d-bag named Copywrite has decided to start throwing lyrical darts at Asher Roth. This is somewhat reminiscent of a few years back when Haystack took shots at Bubba Sparxx. Not many people knew or gave a crap who Haystack was then, just like few people give a crap or know who Copywrite is now. The other common denominator in both instances is that white rappers are involved.

Let me start by saying that I am a fan of Asher Roth. I think he is incredibly talented, and has a bright future in the music industry. Let me also say, that he has been marketed masterfully by Scooter Braun. I'm seriously considering commissioning him to spit game to women for me, as I'm sure this guy can sell anything to anyone. But pleasantries aside, I cannot help but feel that Copywrite has a point here.

When I first heard Asher, he reminded me of Eminem. Not "Guilty Conscience" Eminem, but more like Eminem around the time he put out "Infinite". I don't care what you say, unless you are deaf, you must admit the similarities in their rhyme patterns are uncanny, perhaps even copied. Close your eyes and listen to Asher's "Green House Effect", then tell me who you see. I'm not saying Asher made a concerted effort to sound like Em, but I will say that it's only natural that being a fan of rap, and seeing a rapper who looked like him, he picked up or borrowed some of his mannerisms, speech patterns, I don't care attitude, and overall persona. To that end, I would say that any "copying" occurred more through osmosis, rather than pure dick riding.

Now on to Copywrite. First off that name is terrible. You should be beaten on sheer principle for even thinking that was a good idea. Were patent and trademark already taken? Get a new name, then get a new group of friends, as anyone who would encourage you to call yourself that is truly no friend at all. Secondly, let Asher do Asher; Or Eminem or Vanilla Ice, Atmosphere, Mr. Rogers or whoever else you might decide he sounds like. Dude is crazy talented, and I must admit that from what I've heard from you, you aren't so bad yourself. Yeah that's right I listened to your "The Worst of the Best" mixtape and the "Jerk" joint you did with Mick Boogie and Joey Fingaz. But just as I opened this with a new proposed rule for the rap game, I end it with an old one."KEEP IT REAL". In case you forgot what you wrote in "Jeah", let me remind you. "Ain't no haters this way man, it ain't in my blood to hate". Copywrite, let me offer you some advice, by asking you to think about taking some of your own. Stop hating on Mr. Roth! From where I sit you taking shots as him, just makes you look jealous. Just keep doing you, stay in your lane, and whatever attention or accolades are supposed to come your way will eventually manifest themselves. Remember Copywrite, no one likes a rapper who lies about himself, or what he's about in in his raps. You don't believe me? Just ask Rick Ross.

Raphael Saadiq - 100 Yard Dash (Video)

Rahael Saadiq is one of the most talented musicians in the business. He continues to put out wonderful music, and in a time dominated with club music Raphael creates an amazing throwback project. "The Way I See It" is one of the best CD's of 2008 and will stand the test of time. My hats off to the man.
