Hip hop myspace?

Alright so i am interested to hear what people think about this idea/ website that is currently in the mix. www.streetcred.com. The site is going up and is in beta right now. And the concept is that people can gain street cred through their activity on the site and the amount of friends they have...

It may take off or it may be a complete bust. Check it out and if you got an opinion one way or the other let me know.

people have taken street cred to ridiculous levels. even if the person who created this "means no harm," enough of our generation is bein' pushed 2 be some street credible individual when truth be told, most ppl in the hood ain't gangstas, and do no such activity, but now want 2 be one 2 be like their favorite. so fuckin' ridiculous...

This looks like a really cool website and concept. Musch different from the myspace look and feel. I noticed rapper Snoop dogg and TI on the home page. Are they the owners of the website? When do they open?

Wow! How did you stumble upon this...

great concept. I disagree with el boogie I think the intent is street cred as not in the streets, but I think it means being popular. I agree with the other blogger that this seems not to be a MySpace 'knock off" like so many other social networks and has a real unique feel and concept. I would be surprised if this one doesn't take off very quickly, certainly with the celebs that seem to be show on the video screen who are behind it. I am also curious as to who is behind this.

I met the owner of the site at a party last night, actually. It seems like everyone and their grandmother has a website these days, so I'm always skeptical when someone tells me to check out theirs. Thankfully, it looks like this is the real deal, and it's nice to see the concept being executed in such a professional way. Great design and user interface, on top of a unique concept. Not to mention that the guy who started it is very friendly and down to earth. I'll pass this link onto him, so he can check out the feedback.

its a beta now and you can only be on it if you are invited. And seeing as how I know how online marketing works, I have a feeling the people on streetcred.com's tip, are getting paid buy streetcred.com to do so. ITS NOT EVEN OUT YET, why would you love it SOOOO much.

Update on this website. It seems this concept has taken off! According to Alexa, the website is already ranked in the top 100,000 websites on the Internet. Thats pretty good taking into account that there are 109 million websites out there and they just launched a fews months ago.
